The Spirit of Renewal will be on display at the Poet’s Lounge in Simpson Bay on January 9, starting at 8:00pm. The free Open Mic session is held, as always, at the Q Lounge, just above the McDonald’s west of the drawbridge.
Invariably, the poetic and performing talents of the people of St. Maarten are inspiring and even astounding. Young and old take to the stage to share their words; well chosen, crafted phrases that reach past rhetoric and tap into truth, understanding and power.
The attitude of the Poet’s Lounge is encouraging to new comers and celebrates all those who have the courage to try. It’s a jazz-y scene that you just have to experience, and, hey, what else is happening on a Tuesday night?
