Ruel Richardson performs @ Axum!

Come out to AXUM this Saturday, February 1, at 9:00, for an unforgettable evening of entertainment with Ruel Richardson, featuring Connis Vanterpool. This passionate and profoundly skilled musician has quite a repertoire of original music and has performed both as a part of other bands and groups as well as solo, in his own right as a gifted singer and all round musical performer.

He has entertained high profile individuals, such as Roman Abramovich, Orlando Bloom, and Sean William Scott, and has in past years performed with Def Jam recording artist Chrisette Michele and her band at the “Anguilla Summer Festival”. He’s toured extensive summers with his past band British Dependency, beginning in Montreal, Quebec, all the way to New York City and Maine.

Two US tours saw Ruel open for “The Wailers” and played at venues such as the First Avenue nightclub in Minneapolis, South Carolina House of Blues, Chicago House of Blues and The Palladium Theatre in Clearwater, Florida.

Ruel Richardson came from quite an impressive musical background, with a ferocious hunger to learn. Young Ruel explored many gifted guitarists, closely studying their techniques and developing his own style along the way. He fell deeply in love with Jazz via the guitar stylings of players such as Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Chuck Loeb and Earl Klugh. Ruel’s discovery of rock guitarist Steve Vai also played a profound role in shaping this young virtuoso.

Ruel moved to England five years ago to continue to develop himself as a professional musician. He plays various gigs mainly in the London area, and travels for shows all over England and Europe. He plays a mixture of his own music and covers with a special twist. His style varies, as it’s quite an eclectic combination of music genres: Jazz, Reggae, Gospel, Blues, Oldie Goldie, you name it – and he’s a real crowd pleaser as he sings and plays the guitar.

Fun fact: Ruel plays steel pan, and has even done a Steel Pan BBC gig on TV, which comes out this year. Ruel has already had some big adventures in Europe and enjoys gigging with UK based band Rebels & Records. He describes himself as an adventurous person. We can see he adapts wherever he goes.

Originally from St. Kitts, he’s based in Anguilla for a few years, and many of you would remember him from his old band British Dependency. He is now back in the Caribbean to gig in the sunshine! Check him out on Facebook: Ruel Richardson.
