Sheer Restaurant reopens for the season this Sunday

 

After a brief closure during the low season, your favourite fine dining eatery, Sheer Restaurant, will reopen its doors for the high season this Sunday, November 6, at 5:30pm.

The reopening will coincide with a must-see art exhibition, featuring St. Maarten’s loved and talented artist Sir Roland Richardson (see related story).

Guests will be treated to complimentary wine, beer and soda from 5:30 until 8:00pm. An extra special dinner will be served from 8:00pm by Sheer’s world class Chef William Dobson.

The dinner will include amuse of sweet potato and pimento soup with toasted rosemary focaccia and appetiser of crisp warm goat cheese “velvet bon bon” beetroot salad, scented with lemon, chilli flakes and apple or tiger shrimp “cocktail” marinated in lemongrass and cilantro with mango and roasted red peppers salsa.

The entrée will be a delicious serving of beef tenderloin, parmesan gratin potatoes, asparagus, cep mushrooms and truffle or chilean sea bass fillet on coconut curry cous cous, fine beans, crispy carrot ribbons, sweet corn veloute.

For vegetarians, there will be roasted pumpkin, bell pepper and spinach pithivier with pine nuts and feta cheese. Yum!

Satisfy your sweet tooth with a delectable dessert of silky chocolate mousse with Bailey’s Irish cream or caramelized lemon tart with vanilla bean ice cream and pistachios.

This terrific menu can be savoured for US $45 plus wine and service. There is limited seating on the opening evening, so advance reservation is a must.

You will be wowed with live music from Franklin Arrindell on steel pan from 5:30pm to 8:00pm and BettiV and Connis Vanterpool from 8:00pm until 10:30pm.

Sheer offers valet parking for dinner service. However, guests are invited to park complimentary in the government parking lot for the opening evening. Sheer will open nightly for dinner from 6:30 through 9:30pm Tuesdays to Sundays.

Don’t forget to check out Sheer on Wednesdays for “Wine Day” where all wines will be half price, with the exception of a few bottles, from 5:00pm and continuing throughout the evening.

Throughout this season, Sheer will also be featuring weekly ladies night on Thursdays from 6:00 until late with live music by BettiV and Connis Vanterpool. Ladies will drink for free from 7:00 until 9:00.

Fridays will be “Thirsty Friday” in Sheer’s lovely bar with specials on all drinks and liquors.

As a treat in the final celebration of its 6th anniversary, Sheer will be featuring an open house from November 22 throughout December 22, from 3:30 to 9:30, every day from Tuesday to Sunday. Each guest will receive a complimentary raffle ticket to win as first prize a three-bedroom stay in a beach villa in Anguilla, second prize a two-bedroom beach villa stay for five nights or third prize a one-bedroom villa stay for three nights. No purchase required to receive your free raffle ticket. Individuals may return as often as they wish and receive a new raffle ticket. The raffle will be drawn December 24, at 7:00pm.

Sheer owner Valentin Davis is “very grateful” for all the support received from residents and he showing his appreciation by offering these fantastic prizes which can be used from May through October 2017. Some blackout periods may apply.

Sheer offers intimate upscale dining events for birthdays, weddings and corporate events in its air-conditioned dining room or open air terrace. The restaurant also offers private dining rooms for up to 24 persons. For larger events, Sheer offers banquets at its country villa Diamond Chateau for up to 200 persons.
