So French! So Delicious!

It’s always a challenge to bring little ones out to dinner (those who don’t have children, have no idea what I mean). But So French made it a lot easier for us. It all started with parking; there was parking, but it was full when we arrived. The fabulous manager made sure we got a parking nearby and so it was easy to take the children out with us. He really cared about making sure we had our dinner at his establishment, which we appreciated!

Seated, set-up with a beautiful window table overlooking the lovely Kim-Sha beach at night, we were content browsing the very tempting menu.

For starters the traditional French onion soup was just delicious and it hit the spot, but so was the sea scallops puff pastry Provençal style, with rucola salad and cherry tomatoes. Let me tell you I had never had this before. The salad was refreshing, the pastry was airy and light, crispy and very delicate, with the scallops “sandwiched” between, smothered in a very tasty and thick brown savoury sauce; the thin bottom of the delicate pastry was saturated with the gravy-like deliciousness. What a delight!

I was excited about all the lovely menu options, but finally decided to have the Lamb Shank. It was large, delectable, fall-off-the-bone tender and well-seasoned all the way through, with a rich, hearty sauce. It came with vegetables, pureed carrot (tasted like Thanksgiving with cinnamon), some broccoli and what looked (and tasted like) like ratatouille, topped with two sprigs of asparagus. It made for such a beautiful plate, all the plates were beautiful!

My partner had the duck, which was “perfect” according to him (a very picky eater). It was indeed, with nicely thin slices, a delicious sauce and mashed potato. My daughter really enjoyed her Mahi Special; she normally doesn’t eat fish, but at this fancy restaurant she wanted to be a little more grown up and had the inspiration to “go out on a limb,” and, of course, she loved her Mahi Mahi in a creamy herb sauce with jasmine rice. All the plates included a delicious selection of vegetables like my plate.

Our plates were beautifully presented, very satisfying and absolutely delicious, but to top it all off was the dessert. It’s not very often I find a place where the food and desserts are on the same level. We ordered the Profiteroles <maison> sauce, chocolat. Well, let me just say that you don’t know till you try. This dessert could’ve easily satisfied all of us. It was a very hefty and yummy serving of three large, light and fluffy profiteroles, with vanilla bean ice crema in the middle, drizzled with warm chocolate sauce and lovingly embraced by whipped cream.

We also ordered the trio de sorbets aux saveurs Antillaises - Caribbean flavoured sherbet trio; this consisted of three scoops of ice cream, each a different flavour, lime, mango and coconut, with tiny bits of raspberry sauce dotted on the plate. This dessert is super refreshing, nice and cooling and a lovely blend of flavours. You will definitely enjoy its freshness.

For us it was a perfect dinner, with really wonderful staff at a chic location with a fabulous view.

My mouth is watering just remembering it; So French is a nice location, where memories can be made. We will definitely be back for more family outings and the fabulous plates and treatment!
