Summer Jazz is back!

Summer Jazz is back!

The Summer Jazz festival brings the sweet sounds of jazz back to our shores after a two-year hiatus. International, regional and local musicians will play different jazz styles at various locations in Philipsburg starting this weekend. You won’t want to miss this jazz affair!

This Friday, June 24, the Ladies with Pizazz in Jazz (La Vaune Hodge-Henry, Shakiya and Shanella James) will take the stage at the Philipsburg Cultural Centre – but the party does not stop there. All jazz-lovers are invited to the after-party at Sheer on Front Street.

On Saturday, June 25, Summer Jazz IV will take place at a new venue. Taloula Mango's offers the perfect and cosy beach setting to feature vocalist Marita Blijden, Christian Amour Trio, vocalist Illismo, and drummer Jerome Castry. Also performing will be local Berklee graduate Paul Emmanuel and the students from his music school. Closing off Saturday will be Fats Neville James with his trombone and his fellow musicians.

This fourth edition of Summer Jazz festival comes to a close on Sunday, June 26. Percussionist Julien Seguret; guitarist Alban; Connis Vanterpool and his new band; and Fred York and visiting musician Alex Jaxk will steal the show in front of the Holland House hotel.

According to the organisers, it’s going to be a cosy, beachy, early-afternoon, jazzy vibe and a boutique experience highlighting some of the best that town has to offer. For tickets for the Ladies with Pizzaz in Jazz, contact the Philipsburg Cultural Centre on +1 (721) 524-5084.
