One of the most popular and well-loved crew teams on St. Maarten is the Tango crew at Aqua Mania Adventures.
Tango is a 65-foot sail catamaran built in St. Kitts by Indigo Yachts. When she joined the Aqua Mania fleet on St. Maarten, Operations Manager Garth Steyn already knew who the perfect Captain was going to be. He had been grooming Haresh Shivnath for the position on Lambada for several years beforehand.
Both Garth and Haresh started working at Aqua Mania Adventures in 1992 as dockhands, sending out jet skis, taking guests water-skiing and operating the ferry Tinkerbell between Royal Palm and Pelican Resort. While Garth moved into the scuba diving operations as instructor, Haresh honed his already considerable bodywork skills, on the jet skis and boats that were in regular need of repairs and maintenance.
After Lambada joined the fleet and Garth stepped into the position of Captain, it was a short time until Haresh joined him in running the daily trips to Prickly Pear and weekly Sunset Sails. And so a new Captain was made and stepped on board a brand new sail catamaran Tango for day charters, sunset sails, private charters and dinner cruises.
The present crew on board Tango comprises three awesome members who are dedicated and work together to create an unforgettable vacation experience for the guests that step on board. They go above and beyond in service excellence and safety on board Tango.
OB is from St. Maarten – a gentle giant, who is already working his way up to Captain, having passed through the island sailing and maritime programs. Sylvia is from Holland and worked previously aboard a mega yacht. A trusted right hand to the Captain, her attention to detail is faultless and is. Edwin rounds up the trio, bringing life and soul to the charters with his friendly smile and willingness to help.
Tango operates the very popular Caribbean Dinner Cruises Wednesday to Friday, a Bubbly Sunset Sail Tuesdays. She is most favoured for private charters from local family groups to the elite La Samanna customers and Anguilla Hotels.
Tango is spacious, pristinely clean, well maintained and has a slide built into the back scoop for added delight.
A new catamaran, Mambo #5, was recently added to Aqua Mania’s fleet. This boat operates fantastic trips to Rendezvous Bay, Around the Island Trips and is available for private charters. Just as on the other boats, the Captain and crew are carefully selected and are gaining more and more popularity.
