“I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you, yeah”
Okay. First of all, food.
Mariah Carey is my reference point for today. She doesn’t want a lot for Christmas, the only thing she wants is bae. Bae would be nice, but I still needed to put some real thought into what I really wanted for Christmas. I decided to plan my Christmas Day out and see, based on the schedule, what’s really important.
Food.
So, I have to go see my family who’s ganged up at Audra’s house. That’s where the gifts are being opened, the food is being eaten, the family will gather and the food is being eaten. I also need to go see Danielle and Asia to bring them their gifts; Zion will be by Audra, so she’ll get her gift there. I usually swing by and see my boy Dro and his family. I might also go to the movies. That schedule turned out to have a lot less stuff than I initially anticipated, but I guess you always need to leave a little room for pop ups.
Anyway. Much like the moral of my last piece, it seems like the most important thing on the list is family. Family includes the close people in your life that you want to share special days and moments with. Gifts are dope, but having no one to give them to or receive them from kind of kills the vibe and the meaning. Food is awesome, but not having a mom and sisters to cook it, is well, pointless. LOL. Fine. Having food is good, but not having people to share that meal with is also a killjoy. There, is that sentimental enough?
I do have a lot of work to finish up. Weddings, staff parties, family sessions and a bunch of other pictures to edit. We usually take no days off, and I even had two families asking me to come to their house to take pictures as they open their gifts, but I don’t think I’m going to take the jobs. (Unless they come through with that bread, bread!)
Going to spend the day with the people whom I care about most, and I hope you guys do as well. Gifts are nice, but even if you don’t get any, cherish the time spend with the people around. You can get a gift next year, but you can’t get these moments back.
Merry Christmas you filthy animal…
(Man, I hope you caught that Home Alone line)
