“Breakfast at Tiffany's and bottles of bubbles
Girls with tattoos who like getting in trouble
Lashes and diamonds, ATM machines
Buy myself all of my favourite things”
Carnival just finished, so I figured I’d mention something that I thought was really, really “cwazzy” – no, not the people that took advantage of the fact that they could hide under the catwalk at Bacchanal Sunday! LOL! I want to share a quick thought about “Village food” and “ballers”. However, I first want to share a more serious food- and baller-related thought that I was having.
Okay. Okay. Let me stop rambling.
I pay attention. I pay attention to my surroundings. I pay attention to my habits (good and bad). I pay attention to my responses to situations. What I realized about myself a few years ago is that when I’m stressed or frustrated for long periods of time (long for me is like a day, lol), I spend a lot of money. I ball out and buy new clothes or shoes or tech stuff. It usually happens really subconsciously and it doesn’t ring a bell until I realize: “Why is my cash flow so low?”
“Think retail therapy my new addiction.” Hey, Ariana!
Since I started CrossFit (well, seriously started CrossFit), I’ve realized that my stress coping mechanism has changed just a bit. Now I just eat poorly. Sometimes I catch myself at McDonalds or Burger King or the gas station at 1:00am porking down any junk I can find to put into my system (lol). So in a way, I’ve found a “win-win” type of technique. I’m still spending the money, but now I’m also getting to indulge in junk food.
Usually, I rein it in pretty well. Shift my focus. Control my media intake. Slow down my pace of life. Voila. The last time that it hit me was really bad, though. I think I went on a three-week junk journey. I wasn’t cooking anymore, so all meals were bought and you know sometimes it wasn’t the best choice. I was standing in the mirror one day and I was like “I have how many abs now?!”
It was time to figure this thing out. So this week, I decided to rein this thing in. I figured if I was going to spend money, I might as well get on the meal plan from FitFoods for a week. Now my spending has a cap, because you pay at the beginning of the week and get your meals every day. It also solves the “no junk”, because if I’m full and my nutrition is in order, there will be no urge to pig out.
I do want to take a trip soon because I haven’t left the island ever since I came back from New York in October – so a mind-clearing trip is definitely in order – maybe a Caribbean trip this time?
Oh!!!!
Bro! I went to the Village only three times during the Carnival season, right, and each time I easily spent $20 between Bad Boys satés and drinks (soda and water, people). HOW were people going to the Village every night?! HOW were people going to the Village twice a day, er’day for the entire Carnival season? Sway?? Y’all are some serious ballers!
Anyway, this was just me venting. Maybe you guys will get some more nuggets next week.
