Through Cam's Lens: Preparing

“Tay Keith, this too hard

Ring, ring, ring, we drip too hard, ayy

(Run that back, Turbo)

Yeah, ayy, look”

This time last year – a week and a half before the event – I was definitely more nervous and possibly pooping bricks. The printing of the images for the exhibition portion of the Vision and Voice event was done in the states, and the frames were coming in from there as well, so I was a wreck hoping that they’d reach in time and that nothing would be broken or ruined. Thankfully, it was all good as everything arrived in perfect condition.

I am taking a different approach this year. Having learned from the mistakes of last year, I intend to make “Vision and Voice: The Sequel” so much better than last year’s event. All I’m letting you know for now is that there will be fewer images, BUT they will be much bigger (smiley face emoji). Hold on to your seats, kiddies – not literally as I much prefer you walk around to view the art – you’re definitely in for a treat. Not Kareem’s treats. Well, those too.

Kareem, much like me, is planning to take it up a notch from last year. An extra year’s worth of experience under his belt can only make Chef B’s highly demanded foods all the more better. (The term is “all the more better” right? Idk) We plan to have a tasting sooooon of the foods he’s planning on serving – and you KNOW man’s down to eat fam. Blown senses in 3, 2...

Like not blown like your eardrums (because we know that Malaika does nothing but soothe you). I hope she squeezes some Lianne La Havas in because “yuh know” your boy is a fan. “Don’t wake me up; I’m trying to find you...” Those are just lyrics from a song, but you definitely won’t have a problem staying awake with Malaika and this dance floor she demanded. Yes, guys, she didn’t give Kareem and me a choice in the matter (LOL) but she’s the voice, so we couldn’t say much. (See what I did there? No? Cool...)

This showcasing of the arts is definitely from our hearts. We want to do it for the arts and because we appreciated last year’s support so much that we HAD to do it again. We took notes from last year, and we listened to advice from anyone who would give it, just so we could take this year up a notch. We just want to keep giving you guys the highest quality of art, because the standard of art here on the island is high, honestly. We just need to keep supporting it and the artists.

Tickets for the show are available at Inglot in Miss Lalie Commercial Center, HASHTAG in Marigot and Beauty Lounge in Concordia. Only $30 gets you in to view the exhibition, listen to the concert and taste the cuisine. I mean sheesh, that price kinda good, toch?
