Everyone! No, not just vegans, everyone! Get ready for the upcoming Vegan Fest on November 20. This unique festival is organized by St. Maarten Vegans, Sint Maarten Bridge Builders and Animal Defenders Sint Maarten. The goal is to create more awareness about a lifestyle that is not only kind to animals, but also good for the environment and your health. November is World Vegan Month so it’s a perfect moment to organize this fun event!!
The day will be filled with activities, cooking demos, information, fun and food! The day starts bright and early with a walk-a-thon through Philipsburg to promote the rights of animals and saving their lives. Registration for the walkers is at 5:30am at Belair Community Centre. The route is planned for 6:00am and starts at Belair, following Octavius Richardson Road to Little Bay Road (Link One) then on to the Boardwalk at Sea Palace. The Boardwalk leads on to Emmaplein and then Pondfill Road, Bush Road, Welgelegen Road and back to Belair Community Centre.
The entire route is about six kilometres; walkers should be back by about 8:00am. For those who want to do yoga instead; this will be from 7:00 to 8:00am at Belair Community Centre. By 9:00am, a great vegan breakfast will be served on the patio. After this, there will be a screening of the documentary Cowspiracy, various cooking demos and stalls with vegan food and products. During the afternoon, the winner of the meatless meatloaf contest will be announced. More info about that is on the Facebook page of Sint Maarten Vegans.
