Where to dine for Thanksgiving

Don’t break a sweat over pots, pans and the oven this Thanksgiving. Head out for a nice turkey and ham dinner at one of the many restaurants on the island that will be having special Thanksgiving treats. No need to look around, we have done the leg-work to bring you some of these top spots to dine.

Sheer Restaurant

Get your family together and enjoy a tasty Thanksgiving treat at Sheer Restaurant on Front Street. Sheer will be hosting a “Happy Thanksgiving Cocktail and Dinner” with fine art and fanfare. From 5:30 to 6:30pm, complimentary cocktails will be served while guests get to experience a museum-calibre art show featuring the works of Sir Roland Richardson, who is exhibiting 65 extraordinary works from his collection in an exhibition entitled "Portraits Painted from Life." You can mingle and network with the friendly artist and friends before dinner.

Sheer’s complimentary valet service starts at 5:30pm so you can rest assured that your car will be safely parked. From 6:30pm onwards, a three-course dinner prepared by Chef William Dobson will be served. The menu will include roasted butternut squash and brie soup, shrimp cocktail with Hennessy xo sauce, roasted turkey escalope with pineapple, sage and chestnut stuffing, pig in a blanket, steamed mixed vegetable, garlicky buttery mashed potatoes and cranberry pan gravy. Captain Oliver’s

Captain Oliver’s in Oyster Pond is always a great choice when it comes to dining. In addition to their regular menu, Captain Oliver’s will be featuring a traditional Thanksgiving buffet for US $25 per person. The all-you-can-eat buffet will include roasted turkey, ham, two types of stuffing, sausage and leek/chestnut, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and smoked oyster casserole, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn on the cob, cranberry sauce, apple tart and pumpkin pie.

Captain Oliver’s open-air atmosphere overlooking the marina, live entertainment, dance floor and friendly service make it a great spot for Thanksgiving dinner. In addition to the buffet, the restaurant will also be serving lunch and dinner between noon and 10:30pm. Boca Marina Restaurant

All roads lead to Boca Marina Restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner starting at 6:00pm today, Thursday. Boca Marina will be serving a three-course traditional Thanksgiving dinner for $30 per person, which includes a free glass of wine. Titillate your appetite with their appetiser of roasted butternut squash and bacon salad served with Boca Marina’s homemade mustard dressing or try their apple, cranberry and goat cheese salad - crispy romaine lettuce tossed with apple slices, cranberries and goat cheese in a zesty vinegar and olive oil dressing or indulge in their creamy pumpkin soup served with garlic crouton.

The entrees will include your choice of traditional oven roasted turkey served with a delicious apple and pineapple stuffing and traditional cranberry sauce or the establishment’s creamy mushroom gravy or orange and pineapple roasted ham traditional style or oven roasted turkey and honey roasted ham combo where you get the best of both worlds for a real thanksgiving dinner. Satisfy your sweet tooth with dessert options including homemade pumpkin tart served with vanilla ice cream or sweet potato pie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or apple pie turnover, a Boca Marina homemade holiday favourite. Topper’s Thanksgiving Day Feast today will be a great way to indulge in all your favourite Thanksgiving treats prepared to perfection from 11:00am to 10:00pm. Indulge in their main course for $21.95 per person. This will include oven roasted turkey, homemade gravy, apple raisin stuffing, homemade mashed potatoes, butternut squash, steamed broccoli, carrots, cranberry sauce and a free glass of wine. Try out their homemade pies (pumpkin, apple and pecan) for $6.95.

Topper’s full menu will also available. There will also be live entertainment from Mario Gumbs and late night karaoke for your fun and entertainment pleasure. Topper’s management said the first Thanksgiving was in New England and since the owners are from there, they decided to give customers a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. Pureocean at Divi Little Bay

Pureocean at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort will be rolling out the red carpet from 6:00 to 10:00pm for today’s Thanksgiving diners, offering a sumptuous buffet with barbecue features as today is actually the establishment’s BBQ buffet night. Chef Iwan has created a fabulous Thanksgiving buffet dinner with a Caribbean twist to romance the palates of diners for $38 per person. This combined with St. Maarten’s great island entertainment will be an evening not to be missed.

From the salad bar, you can enjoy mesclun greens and hearts of romaine with a variety of toppings, green bean salad with sesame soy vinaigrette, filet Americain with French bread, pita bread with hummus and macaroni and salmon salad. From the soup station, try Chef Julio’s conch chowder, chilled shrimp and crudité display, poached and peel n eat shrimp with old bay cocktail sauces and lemon.

Barbecue lovers can try from the grill: NY strip paillard with a choice of three sauces and St. Luis ribs with Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. The carvery will feature maple roasted ham with pineapple rum glaze and oven roasted turkey breast with cranberry sauce, while the buffet will feature fried snapper with ponzu and gari, white jasmine rice, St. Maarten beef stew with root vegetables, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, roasted butternut squash with spiced walnuts, grilled corn on the cob with butter and cotija cheese and sautéed kale with marinara and roasted garlic.

Desserts will include pumpkin mousse, pumpkin pie, assorted petit fours, carrot cake and

cookies and cream. Impact Band will be playing and Paula the voodoo dancer will also be performing. Guests can choose to eat indoor or "al fresco" on the terrace.

Canoa

Canoa Restaurant at Emerald Merit Road in Oyster Pond will romance appetites with a delectable three course Caribbean styled Thanksgiving dinner today, Thursday, from 5:30 to 10:30pm. Dinner appetizer will include a rich, delicious velvety smooth pumpkin soup and luscious garden-fresh green salad topped with a grilled vegetable kebab and served with Canoa’s tasty house dressing. Indulge in their entrée with your choice of moist and tender slow baked premium turkey breast, served stuffed with plantain and chunks of browned smoked sausage and topped with an ample portion of old fashion turkey gravy; island fresh steamed mahi mahi topped with a mix of crispy ginger, mango, chilli and red coleslaw or traditional holiday ham flavoured with a peach and honey mustard glaze with a splash of bourbon.

Add your choice of sides from delightful rosemary and garlic roasted potatoes; aromatic Jasmine rice, yummy assorted sautéed vegetables and iconic island style cranberry and pineapple sauce. The delectable desserts will include golden apple crumble garnished with sweet maple covered pecan and served with a vanilla ice-cream or popular pumpkin cheese cake infused with aromatic Caribbean spices – a Canoa holiday favourite. Taloula Mango’s

Many of us might remember the days when we ordered gourmet breads and pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas from Kangaroo Court. Su Wathey provided home baked Zucchini, Banana and Cranberry breads along with pumpkin and pecan pies. When Kangaroo court changed hands in 2006, this tradition went away. Ten years later, the good news is this Thanksgiving is that Su Wathey’s breads and pies are back; this time a new generation is taking charge. Dish D’Lish

Located at #55 Airport Road in Simpson Bay, Dish D’Lish is ready to welcome Thanksgiving diners this evening from 6:30. Their Thanksgiving menu is $35 per person, will includes treats of homemade eggnog, appetizer salad of roasted pear country salad; main course of roasted whole turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce, roasted ham w/ apple chutney, cornbread stuffing, truffle mashed potatoes, tomato-almond pesto green beans and triple cheese macaroni. Dessert will include eggnog pumpkin pie with pecan brittle. Dining at Dish D’Lish is a great way to kick off the holiday season.

Also offering great Thanksgiving treats today are Pasanggrahan on Front Street, Bajatzu in Maho, and Sheika’s Bistro in Philipsburg.
