St. Maarten will witness its first-ever cupcake battle on Saturday, July 2, when 3T Events and Modeling hosts the Sugar Rush Cupcake Battle poolside at Country Club at Princess Port De Plaisance Resort and Casino starting from 7:00pm.
Five teams will compete in the cupcake battle. Signed up are Team Big Mama Cupcake Rush, Sally’s Creations, Team NIPA Dream Chasers, Irresistible Desserts and Cupcake Delights. The winning team will take home a prize of US $500 donated by main sponsor Windward Islands Bank (WIB).
The five judges will rate the cupcakes on bite-ability (size), frosting, cake (moistness, flavour, texture), and presentation/creativity (pleasing, flair, originality). Points for themed display (originality of design) will be awarded for those who reach the final round.
Aside from the grand prize, the winning team will get exposure for their cupcake creation and business with a display table at WIB’s main branch in Philipsburg on Monday, July, 4. All WIB clients visiting the branch will get a sample of the winning cakes and a chance to admire the display.
Entrance for the cupcake battle is US $10 per person. Cupcakes will be available for sale after the competition.
