Build a connection through K1’s Christmas Angels

Build a connection through K1’s Christmas Angels

By Chiaira Bowers, K1 Britannia Foundation

Since 2014, December means it is Christmas Angels time – a time to make a new connection with someone through our Christmas Angels Project.

Our eighth Annual Christmas Angels Project will be taking place from Friday, December 3, to Monday, December 6, at 9:00am-6:00pm at the Government Administration Building in Philipsburg. The community is encouraged to pass by, choose a special angel, buy a gift for the child or elder it represents, and in return, they receive the angel as a gift from that person.

Receiving the angel in return is one of the best parts of the experience – a perfect ornament with which to decorate your home, workplace or car. Made with love, the special angels now find a new home with you. You can build your Christmas tree decorations with all the handmade angels you’ve picked throughout the years, representing a child or elder whose life you’ve touched.

Over the years, we’ve received pictures of participants who share how their Christmas angels are now part of their home or workplace and it showcases this connection through the project. We’ve spoken to a few participants who’ve expressed what the angel(s) and experience signifies to them.

I was and am still sooooooo happy with my two beautiful angels, a two-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy. I cried when I got them because it really felt like my own birth children and that made it a very special Christmas Angel moment for me and my little angels. Thank you, K1 Britannia, for giving me and my angels a Christmas heart-to-heart bonding.” –Nkosazana Illis

My favourite part about the entire process is putting the angel on my tree; it reminds me of the happiness I shared with someone. I encourage others to participate because it is a small gesture and you know you will be making someone’s Christmas very special.” –Sabrina Jno-Baptiste

I keep my angels on my work desk, as it is a constant reminder of the lives that I’ve impacted and the smiles I put on the face of those persons who got what they’ve wished for.” –Firoza Goswami

All of these folks have participated in the project for multiple years, with the angel(s) giving them a sense of connection, happiness, genuine joy and pleasure for being able to bless someone else’s life throughout the years.

You too can encourage others to also build connections this holiday season and for years to come. Once you pick your angel next week and it has found a home, remember to take pictures and share it on Facebook and/or Instagram with the hashtag #K1ChristmasAngels and tag @K1SXM.
