Don’t wait until a storm is here to prepare

Each year, hurricane season begins on June 1 and lasts for six months, with storms typically peaking in August and September. Though the start of the season is upon us, the Caribbean and the world are still reeling from the public health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. This may cause a delay in preparation for hurricane season, with many families who would rather save their money until a sign of a storm or hurricane is upon us.

“Many residents are saying, ‘we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.’ However, as a community, we cannot wait until a storm is here to prepare,” says Kooyman Store Manager Nico Boersma.

“Many tropical meteorology experts are forecasting above-normal activity – and despite COVID-19 pandemic, residents must therefore prepare to secure their homes and gather sufficient supplies in the event of a hurricane.”

The team at Kooyman will continue its efforts to encourage the public to make early plans for the 2020 hurricane season. Through a comprehensive media campaign, Kooyman aims to provide residents with the necessary tools and information to weather the storm, such as a suggested hurricane kit; hurricane do’s and don’ts; health & safety tips; and a property maintenance guide to secure your property and prevent flying debris in the event of a storm.

These items and more will be available on the Kooyman website and shared through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram for customer convenience.

“We are looking forward to producing our Hurricane Folder shortly, says Kooyman Commercial Officer Evencia Carty-Seabrookes. Our team has hand-selected a great number of safety products; necessary building materials to reinforce your home and roofing structures; lawn and garden tools to prepare your property; and other essential hurricane supplies.”

It is the corporate responsibility of Kooyman to provide quality building materials and supplies to aid the community in realising their building and preparation needs.

Visit the Kooyman store and ask to speak to one of our experts; shop from the safety of your vehicle at our custom Drive Thru or simply order online via our eCatalog and reserve your supplies for pick-up or delivery.
