Everyone, even non-vegans, welcome! Better get busy trying out recipes for the Meatless Loaf Competition, testing and tasting all the possible delicious combinations!
Entering the contest is easy: Just make a meatless loaf and take a photo of yourself with your creation, a selfie as they say, and post that along with the recipe on the facebook page: St. Maarten Vegans. November 15 is the deadline!
The judges will check all the recipes and the presentation as displayed in the photo and choose three entrants to make their recipe for the Vegan Fest which will be held at Belair Community Centre on Sunday, November 20. Vegan Fest Day will be full of fun, delicious treats and educational points of interest, and it’s all FREE! There will be some things for sale, too, at the booths; but the Vegan Fest is FREE!
It starts with a WALK-A-THON through Philipsburg. Registration for the walkers is at 5:30am at Belair Community Centre. The route is planned for 6:00am and starts at Belair, following Octavius Richardson Road to Little Bay Road (Link One) then on to the Boardwalk at Sea Palace. The Boardwalk leads on to Emmaplein and then Pondfill Road, Bush Road, Welgelegen Road and back to Belair Community Centre. The whole route is about six kilometres; walkers should be back by about 8:00am.
Those who choose not to walk can take part in a yoga session from 7:00 to 8:00am right at the Belair Centre. By 9:00am, a great vegan breakfast will be served on the patio.
Throughout the day, there will be films, cooking demonstrations and plenty of interesting stalls with local creations on display, including the famous Banana TV Girls. (Don’t know about them? Check them out on YouTube!)
Back to the Meatless Loaf Competition: This is where everyone gets a taste of the contest entries and can then place their vote for the best. The winner will receive gifts yet to be named, but the main glory will be the pride of knowing yours topped all the others!
Everyone is welcome. You certainly don’t have to be vegan to attend this awesome day of fun and discovery. The public is invited and encouraged to come and find out more about going cruelty-free and enjoying the health benefits of veganism. Regardless of “going vegan,” anyone can benefit from incorporating more veggies and fruits into their daily routine, so get ready for the Vegan Fest on November 20. Your beautiful body will thank you for it!
