Professional as well as amateur photographers across the world can join The Nature Conservancy’s Photo Contest for the chance to gain recognition, join a community of photographers, and win prizes. The global environmental non-profit works to create a world where people and nature can thrive.
“Photography brings the natural world to people’s eyes and to their hearts. We believe it can help save the planet,” it says. “Founded at its grassroots in the United States in 1951, The Nature Conservancy has grown to become one of the most effective and wide-reaching environmental organizations in the world. Thanks to more than a million members and the dedicated efforts of our diverse staff and more than 400 scientists, we impact conservation in 72 countries across six continents.”
An unlimited number of photos may be entered, under the categories:
* Cities and Nature: Connecting with nature where we live.
* Landscape: A sense of place, with or without people.
* People and Nature: Recreation, adventure, people enjoying the outdoors.
* Water: Above, below, or in between.
* Wildlife: In the wild or in our backyard.
Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.
Winning submissions will be selected for multiple award categories, judged by the best in the industry. One will also be chosen by the public.
One grand prize winner will receive a $2,000 Delta gift card, a camera kit from brand of choice (estimated value: US $4,000) and mention on The Conservancy’s digital presences.
The entry period has started and will last until August 31. All winners will be chosen from a pool of “Judges’ Favourites” – a list finalised by September 1. One People’s Choice winner will be selected through online voting on September 1 through 8. All winners, across all categories, will be announced on September 13.
