LFC completes stage 1 of Hopeful Heart Project, sights on 2025 initiatives

By Foresee Foundation

The streets tell a story; one of struggle, resilience, and the urgent need for change. For too many, home is a doorway, a bench, or a makeshift shelter against the elements. Leaders for Change Foundation (LFC) has made it their mission to bring relief to those experiencing homelessness and extreme vulnerability, offering not just aid, but dignity and hope.

Stage 1 of the Hopeful Heart Project is now complete. This phase focused on direct outreach; meeting individuals where they are and responding to their most immediate needs. Through extensive efforts, LFC distributed hygiene kits, hot meals, snack bags, and “go bags” stocked with daily essentials. More than just handouts, these efforts were designed to open conversations, build trust, and gather crucial data on the challenges faced by rough sleepers and those in unstable housing situations.

Numbers alone do not tell the full story, but they paint a clear picture. Each meal served and each bag delivered represented a step toward greater understanding. By engaging directly with individuals, LFC has gained deeper insight into the root causes of homelessness, the barriers to stability, and the gaps in existing services. These findings will inform the next phase of action.

Looking ahead to 2025, LFC is shifting its focus from emergency relief to long-term, sustainable solutions. The foundation plans to conduct comprehensive surveys and assessments to develop targeted strategies that address the complexities of homelessness. This includes stakeholder collaboration, working closely with policymakers, businesses, and community organisations to align efforts and create a stronger support network. Social Cohesion Initiatives: Encouraging community-driven approaches to reduce stigma and foster inclusion and finding pathways to stability by exploring employment programmes, transitional housing options, and mental health services that address the underlying causes of homelessness.

None of this would be possible without the vital support of partners and donors. Stage 1 was funded through the support of Resources for Community Resilience (R4CR), VNGI, and the World Bank, along with the invaluable efforts of community members, businesses, and volunteers. Their dedication has helped lay the foundation for what comes next.

Change does not happen in isolation. Addressing homelessness requires a collective response, one that includes funding, advocacy, and direct involvement. LFC invites individuals, businesses, and organisations to join in their mission to drive meaningful, lasting change on the island.
