Have you been to Redemption Nights at Ital Shack as yet? If you have, we are sure you know that it’s quite the positive experience! For those who haven’t passed by on a Saturday for “Redemption” night at Ital Shack, we urge you to do so this weekend!
Ital Shack’s weekly Redemption Nights officially started in 2011 when owners Bushman and his wife organized a special tribute to Bob Marley on a Saturday. Entertainment was provided by Zion Gate Sound and when DJ Spiritman felt and saw the great vibes the event brought to the restaurant, he suggested making it a weekly happening.
Fast-forward to 2018 and Saturdays are now in full swing at Ital Shack as people flow in to get a taste of the positive vibes, reggae tunes and mouth-watering food. The most popular dish has to be the nutritious “healing” soup, made with the freshest ingredients and grown in Bushman’s own gardens. For those who want to munch on something else, there are also vegetarian roti and vegan pizza on the menu.
“Our most popular drink on Saturdays is sarsaparilla,” Bushman says. Sarsaparilla is a tropical plant that grows deep in the canopy of the rainforest. It is native to South America, Jamaica, Mexico, Honduras and the West Indies.
Sarsaparilla has been known to have many beneficial effects on the human body. It is said to reduce joint pain and itchy skin and it kills bacteria. Other chemicals may be helpful in reducing inflammation and protecting the liver from damage.
Ordering a bottle (or two) with your meal will have you feeling the positive vibes of the night! Besides sarsaparilla, you can also order Baba Roots and various natural juices to quench your thirst.
While you are sipping on your natural drinks and eating an invigorating meal, Zion Gate Sounds with DJ Spirit Man and DJ Conscious will have you swaying to the best grass roots reggae music.
You and whoever you decide to bring along can sit in the ambient and colourful Ital Shack, or take a seat outside under the stars in the cosy patio adjacent to the restaurant! As Bushman says, “It is all about starting your week of right.”

Ital Shack is open for lunch Sunday to Friday and for dinner on Saturday and upon request. Ital shack is great for young and old, and while reservations are not required, it is suggested to let Bushman know if you are coming out with a big group so that they can make sure there is enough healing soup for everyone!
