Share in the gratitude

Today’s “Frontline Workers Appreciation Day” in the newspaper is well-deserved. During this unprecedented coronavirus crisis, this group of people continues to perform their tasks – and more – under often extremely stressful circumstances to deal with the healthcare threat and keep the population safe, at no small risk to themselves.

The upcoming Labour Day was thought a good occasion to honour these invaluable professionals for their efforts on behalf of the community. This, by dedicating a bit of extra attention to the emergency/medical/essential (EME) personnel.

Just a few could be highlighted in their names, because the list is long. It varies from medical authorities to hospital staff, ambulance crews, doctors and nurses, laboratory employees, police, military, security, firefighters, coast guard, customs, harbour workers, food distributors, supermarkets, delivery personnel, bus drivers, air and sea cargo handlers, prison guards, gas stations, utility companies, telecom providers, teachers/parents/students (at home), caregivers, cleaners, garbage collectors, roadworks crews, volunteers, etc.

Despite most businesses being closed some advertising clients still supported this effort with a word of thanks and/or encouragement of their own. That gesture will no doubt be appreciated by those involved and the entire community who share in the gratitude
