CAY HILL--Mothers giving birth at St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) in the coming period will have to worry a bit less about filling items on their list of must-haves, thanks to a donation of 48 boxes of items for new-borns, baby bags and Pampers Pure, to SMMC by 360 GiftBox earlier this week.

Erica Fortuno, founder of 360 GiftBox, told The Daily Herald the baby boxes are starter kits with essentials for parents and baby. While supplies last, a free baby box will be available to all parents with babies born at SMMC.

Each box contains one baby cleansing cream, one baby moisturising milk, one thermal water, one diaper changing cream, one pacifier, two mother’s milk tea bags, two nipple pads, one shower cap, one pack of Pampers Pure, one baby bag with changing pad and a congratulatory card.

Fortuno said the boxes’ contents were made possible by Windward Islands Bank (WIB) and Prime Distributors, which donated the packs of Pampers Pure.

Asked why she had decided to engage in this initiative, Fortuno said several factors had inspired her decision, such as mothers who are on bed rest, preterm labour, mothers with lack of knowledge and financial means, amongst other things.

“I realised that there was a need for an essential package to make starting this new life’s chapter a little easier. 360 GiftBox is honoured and grateful for the support of its sponsors to be able to provide new parents with this starter maternity package. This is also a great gifting option within our collection of boxes for new parents and baby showers,” she said, adding that a lot of responsibility comes along with starting a family or having a baby and she wanted to help make the process easier for moms.

“In addition, when I was pregnant with my son I saw the need for this.”

SMMC Medical Director Dr. Felix Holiday said, “On behalf of St. Maarten Medical Center, I would like to thank Ms. Fortuno and 360 GiftBox for their donation to our OBGYN [Obstetrics and Gynecology – Ed.] ward. We appreciate the thoughtful consideration in the creation of these boxes for the needs of new mothers and their babies.”

The organisation offers pre-packed and custom gift boxes for all of life’s occasions, making gifting convenient, effortless and modern. Fortuno said companies that wish to get involved with this initiative or want more information on 360 GiftBox can email
