88 active COVID-19  cases on Tuesday

There are two patients with COVID-19 symptoms at SMMC

PHILIPSBURG--Sixteen persons have tested positive for coronavirus COVID-19 and eight persons have recovered on Tuesday, May 25. The country’s total active cases has increased to 88.

  The total number of confirmed cases is 2,386.

  The Collective Prevention Services (CPS) is monitoring 86 persons who are in home isolation. There are two patients hospitalised at the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC).

  The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at 28.

  The number of persons recovered since the first case surfaced on St. Maarten has increased 2,270. There are now 128 persons in quarantine based on contact-tracing investigations carried out by CPS.

  The Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor VSA Airport Health Team in collaboration with Health Care Laboratory St. Maarten (HCLS) has tested 2,925 travellers arriving at the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) and CPS has tested 28,642 persons throughout the community.

  CPS assures that as the numbers continue to fluctuate, the department will continue to actively execute its contact-tracing measures.

  Minister of VSA Omar Ottley urges everyone to remain vigilant, “Continue to wear your mask, practise social distancing, and sanitise or wash your hands frequently,” said Ottley.
