950 St. Martin businesses now on partial activity assistance

MARIGOT--The number of St. Martin companies benefitting from the state’s partial activity scheme as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, has risen to 950 – representing 4,778 employees – as of April 27, the Préfet of Guadeloupe disclosed.

As of this date, 7,550 establishments in Guadeloupe, St. Martin and St. Barths have been authorised to claim for partial activity. This translates to some 47,200 employees on potentially 21.1 million unemployed hours.

As of April 27, 11.2 million euros has been paid out to 4,925 establishments and 21,600 employees. This represents 89 per cent of compensation claims submitted by companies (and 65 per cent of the authorisations). Thirty-five per cent of companies did not request payments.

In St. Martin, these applications came from five sectors representing 80 per cent of the authorised workforce: sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (18 per cent ); construction (13 per cent); manufacturing ( seven per cent ); accommodation and catering (27 per cent) and service activities: administrative, financial, other (17 per cent).

Applications for partial activity authorisation may be submitted until April 30 to benefit from the scheme retroactively. In case of difficulty in creating an account, companies are invited to click the “need help” icon on the home page of the following website: https://activitepartielle.emploi.gouv.fr.
