ANGUILLA--AXA Brewing Company is a new innovation in Anguilla producing a local beer. The beer was launched at Ferryboat Inn Restaurant on Thursday, August 2, and customers tasting the beer were delighted with the brew that is just 4.2 per cent alcohol.

Christian McClean and Kenny Henry-Webster have both been bartenders for many years and know that visitors want to taste local beer so that is what prompted them to join with Mike Holzman and Jennifer Henry-Webster to produce AXA Ale. They have “Tranquillity Wrapped in Brew” as their promotion. Currently the beer is produced by Lazy Magnolia in Mississippi but plans are underway for a brewery on island and to produce different styles of beer.

The beer will be introduced to the public during the Summer Festival with a booth at Sandy Ground at the Captain’s Lounge on Sunday and on August Monday. They will be at Meads Bay on Thursday and every night will be at Booth 22 at Carnival Village. The beer is being distributed to other bars, restaurants and hotels and will eventually be on sale at grocery stores.

At the launch Kenny Henry-Webster said they have been working on the project for a long time and are aiming to have the beer brewed on island as soon as possible. Jennifer Henry-Webster described it as a “dream come true” for the owners and for Anguilla. Holzman said that they are excited that finally the beer is in Anguilla and the brewery will be on island as soon as possible.

McClean thanked the many people at the launch for their support saying that they have been trying to produce Anguilla beer for a long time. He thanked the government of Anguilla for making it possible, noting that they want to make it an important project for the island. “We want it to be the best it can possibly be for the island and we are proud to call this beer our own,” McClean said.
