PHILIPSBURG--ArtCraftCafe Foundation’s art school at Front Street #3 will be holding its annual exhibition on Saturday, March 30, 7:00-9:00pm. The show is titled “Crawl in the Skin of a Famous Artist.”
For this exhibition ArtCraftCafe students have been working on a piece of art that contains the style of a specific artist. They were not allowed to copy an image by the artist, but only the artist’s style.
“They have been exploring many artists to see which one suits them best to crawl in their skin. This way they get in touch with the masters of art history. We have artwork from modern art, impressionism, expressionism, cubism and futurism. They have been working on their masterpieces for weeks,” ArtCraftCafe proprietor Tess Verheij explained.
Her students were inspired by some great masters of the arts, such as Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Keith Haring, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse and Andy Warhol.
Some 80 works of art will go on display. All were made by ArtCraftCafe’s students, who range in age from four-year-olds to adults.
