MARIGOT--Gendarmerie Commandant Sébastien Manzoni said Monday the search is still on for two suspects in the Thursday night car-jacking incident in Baie Nettle.
A tourist couple, Europeans who reside in Guadeloupe, found their path blocked by another car as they attempted to return to their hotel at 10:00 Thursday night. Two suspects who were armed got out of their vehicle with the intention of robbing the couple of their valuables and stealing their rental car.
The couple, however, resisted the robbery and paid the price. The man was shot in the legs and the woman, who attempted to save her handbag, was assaulted and thrown to the ground, receiving several blows to her head. Both were transported to hospital to have their injuries treated.
The couple’s rental car was found later that night on the Dutch side. It was understood the Dutch side police will return the car to the Gendarmerie.
