Boy who drowned at Le Galion was Mont des Accords Collège student

MARIGOT--The young adolescent who tragically drowned at Le Galion on Sunday has been named as Lewis Gumbs, a Collège Mont des Accords student.

  President of the Collectivité Daniel Gibbs expressed his sincere condolences on Monday.

  “I was very saddened to learn of the death of young Collège student Lewis, victim of drowning at Le Galion on Sunday,” he said. “This is a tragic incident that has affected a St. Martin family deeply as well as the school community of Collège Mont des Accords. I pass all my sympathy and comfort to his family and friends.”

  “My Vice-Presidents Valérie Damaseau in charge of the youth and Annick Pétrus in charge of education join me and all the Territorial Councillors of St. Martin in presenting our most sincere condolences and support for his family and close friends.”

  It was understood National Education has also expressed sympathy to the family and has arranged counselling for students affected by the tragedy.
