PHILIPSBURG--In recognition of World Water Day observed annually on March 22, reigning Miss Mature Queen Norrisa Anatol distributed 1,000 sports water bottles to several persons in the community, pupils, teachers and school managers.

The awareness commenced with persons flooding their social media timelines with pictures of themselves receiving bottles, along with positive messages about the importance of water. Anatol continued her awareness by distributing more than 800 sports water bottles to all 3rd-grade (Group 5) pupils, teachers and school managers of the 20 primary schools on the island.

In addition to presenting the bottles, Anatol spoke to all the children about the importance of water; how often we must drink it and how important it is to save water, as many others are not fortunate like us to have clean drinking water.

With the quote printed on the bottles, “Water Is Life,” Anatol reminded the pupils that as they grow, they must understand how important water is for their development.

Present to assist Anatol in the distribution of the bottles were sponsors Kenrick Housen of Carl and Son and Brenda Arrundell of Captain D’s Rib Shack, who gave encouraging words to the pupils about water.

The distribution of the bottles took place from 7:30 to 10:00am at schools in the Dutch Quarter, Belvedere, Hope Estate and Philipsburg areas; 10:00am to 12:00pm in the St. Peters and Cay Hill areas; and 12:00 to 2:00pm in the Cole Bay, Simpson Bay and Cupecoy areas.

The children thanked Anatol for her kind gesture by chanting thank you songs, reciting poems and displaying warm hugs. Pupils also had the opportunity to share their views on water, while one child of the Caribbean International Academy/Montessori Schools informed Anatol on her quest to highlight the importance of water through a YouTube channel she had created with her mother.

“I would like to thank Tony’s Air-Conditioning and Refrigerating Services; Spotless Cleaning Services; Captain D’s Rib Shack; Carl's Unique Inn, Conference Facilities and Bakery; Hughes Culinary Villa Services; and Principle Accounting and Consulting Services for being the proud sponsors of this project. To the school managers, teachers and pupils of all the schools; thank you for accepting my request to visit and present the water bottles,” Anatol concluded.
