Celebrating caregivers

St. Eustatius observed International Nurses Day with a service at the Roman Catholic Church conducted by pastor Simon Wilson, on Sunday.

Past and present nurses on the island attended the church service, as well as Director of the St. Eustatius Healthcare Foundation Gerard Berkel. Nurses Myrtle Suares-Patrick of the St. Eustatius Auxiliary Home and Euthelda “Ercell “Woodley-Warner of Queen Beatrix Medical Centre were honoured for their years of dedicated service to the community. Mother’s Day and Good Shephard’s Day were also celebrated. All mothers in attendance were presented with a flower. Raffled out gift baskets went to Suzy Cuvalay and to retired nurse Rita Dambruck-Arnaud. After the service each person received a token of appreciation.
