Collectivité releases official programme for Bastille Day

MARIGOT--The official programme for Bastille Day on Saturday, July 14, begins at 9:00am with an ecumenical service in the Catholic Church of Marigot followed by the traditional Bastille Day parade on Rue de la République and Boulevard de France starting at 10:15am.

There will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial monument in the garden of Hotel de la Collectivité at 10:30am. The official speeches at 11:00am will take place at Hotel de la Collectivité followed by the toast of friendship.

The activities on the waterfront for the rest of the day start at midday with a live performance by Boulogne Combo until 2:00pm. A deejay will also be providing entertainment from 2:00 to 5:00pm. Domino competitions will be organised up to 5:00pm.

The Territorial Cycling Committee of St. Martin (CCTSM) will be organising a children’s bike race for children ages 4-14 outside the NAGICO offices on Rue de La République from 1:00 to 3:30pm. The order of departure is: Pre-licence at 1:00pm, Poussins at 1:20pm; Pupilles at 2:00pm, Benjamins at 2:45pm and Minimes at 3:20pm.

In addition, there will be traditional boat racing in Marigot Bay from 2:00pm.

Traditional games take place between 3:00 and 4:00pm.

New Generation Status Drum Band will be performing at 4:00pm.

The annual July 14 running race organised by Avenir Sportif Club will start on the waterfront at 5:00pm with a 6K run around the town.

The main bands and artistes, include, the Paul Emmanuel School musicians, Bottle Neck Crew, Grain D’Or dancers, Gunslingers, Hélier Coquillas, Rhythm and Groove Dance School, Honey Dancers Mansoura, and Wilki Souklaye, will be performing on stage from 6:00 to 9:00pm.

Respect Band will be closing the musical programme with a live performance from 9:00 to 11:00pm.

The Collectivité announced that a giant TV screen will be erected outside Hotel de la Collectivité on Sunday for the public to watch the World Cup football final between France and Croatia at 10:00am.
