Collectivité releases official programme for Bastille Day

MARIGOT--The official programme for Bastille Day, Sunday, July 14, begins at 9:00am with an ecumenical service in the Catholic Church of Marigot followed by the traditional Bastille Day parade on Rue de la République and Boulevard de France starting at 10:15am.

  At 10:30am there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial monument in the garden of Hotel de la Collectivité. The official speeches at 11:00am will take place at Hotel de la Collectivité followed by the toast of friendship. Five speeches are planned: from the President of the Junior Territorial Council, President of the Collectivité, two Parliamentarians, and Préfète Sylvie Feucher.

  The activities on the waterfront for the rest of the day start at midday with a live performance by the Boulogne Combo from 12:00 to 1:00pm. Games of dominos and Belote take place throughout the afternoon from 1:00 to 5:00pm. A DJ provides musical entertainment. A bicycle race will be held from 1:15pm to 3:00pm with start and finish on Rue de la Republique.

  At 2:00pm there is a football match in Jean-Louis Vanterpool Stadium between St. Martin Veterans Club and Super Force Football Club. Traditional boat racing is in Marigot Bay from 2:00pm. Traditional games take place between 3:00pm and 5:00pm. Jolly Boys perform from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. The July 14 running race organised by Avenir Sportif Club is at 5:00pm in Marigot, consisting of a 6-kilometre loop through the town centre.

  Live musical entertainment starts from 5:00pm continuing through until midnight, except for a break at 10:00pm for the fireworks display. Artistes performing are Rhythm and Groove Dance School, Honey Dancers, Adrian, Francia, Elona, Kenyo Baly, King James, King Kembe, Funtopia, Copacabana Dancers Show and Dance Arts Dimensions Academy. TJT Band will perform from 10:00pm to midnight.

  On Saturday, July 13, Urmain Dormoy’s Funky Horny Horns will be performing on the waterfront from 6:00 to 7:30pm. That will be followed by the 11th edition of “A Pan Revolution” concert by the Gunslingers Steel Band from 8:00pm until midnight.

  The show’s theme is “The Comeback, the Give Back, the Dedication” featuring the Junior Gunslingers, Victor Benjamin Sweet Pan, VB Legacy, and the Advanced Gunslingers. The show also features the golden voices of Shadz, Malaika Maxwell, Shakiya, The Lion, Shirlz Lavern, and more.
