AIRPORT--Leisure Car Rental, located on Airport Boulevard in Simpson Bay, has won the Annual World Travel Awards’ “St. Maarten’s Leading Car Rental Award” for Dutch St. Maarten and the “St. Martin’s Leading Car Rental Award” for French St. Martin. The company was nominated for three awards and won two.
The 25th Annual World Travel Awards (WTA) Caribbean and North America Gala Ceremony was held at Sandals Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Saturday, September 22.
“We would like to sincerely thank every single person who contributed in one way or another towards the growth and success of Leisure Car Rental over the years. Special thanks to everyone who voted. And we are very grateful to everyone at the WTA for this prestigious award,” Leisure Director Jimmy H. Fitzpatrick said in a press release over the weekend.
World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. Today, the World Travel Awards brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence.
Leisure Car Rental has received several awards over the years and Fitzpatrick said the company is “still the only award-winning rent-a-car company in St. Maarten.”
The company won the Auto Rental News Professional of the Year Award from American Express in 2013. The company also received the Award of Excellence for Outstanding Managerial Leadership, Strategy Development, Customer Orientation, and Strategy Implementation from Jeff Berger’s
www.everythingsxm.com in 2016, and 2017. “We were very pleased to have been recognised by the largest St. Maarten/St. Martin Travel website,” Fitzpatrick said.
It also won the Award for St. Maarten’s Leading Car Rental Agency at the World Travel Awards in 2017, which the company said “was an amazing win.”
Leisure Car Rental was established in St. Maarten in 2007 and has since expanded to Dominica with plans to expand to St. Kitts, Anguilla and the rest of the Caribbean, the release said. “They started small, but consistently grew over the years to become the number one car rental agency on The Friendly Island. Hence the slogan ‘The best place to rent a car in St. Maarten,”” the release said.
