Eighteen new police recruits sworn in

PHILIPSBURG--Justice Minister Dennis Richardson swore in eighteen new police recruits on Friday, to enable them to do their practical training in the office and on the streets.

The recruits were sworn in during a ceremony held at the Philipsburg Police Station in the presence of the Chief of Police Peter de Witte, Acting Chief of Police Commissioner Carl John and Justice Academy instructors Inspectors Norwin Villareal and Kethura Brown.

The recruits will undergo a six week practical training to get a hands-on view of actual police work. Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said in a police press release on Sunday, that the recruits have to be sworn in to do the practical training. The recruits will be guided and given instructions by certified mentors in the office and on the streets.
