Epiphany Parade

The Three Wise Men – Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar – portrayed by youngstersLawrence Adams Jr., Amos Pierre and David d'Haiti, were part of the Solemnity of the Epiphany celebration organised by St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church on Saturday. The parade in Philipsburg was led by a band and the Wise Men. Children of all ages followed the procession, some clutching a gift they had received at Christmas and another to give a less fortunate child. The gifts were blessed when the procession reached the Parish Hall on Back Street. Epiphany commemorates the visit of the Wise Men to the baby Jesus. According to the Gospels, they brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh for the baby. Photos courtesy Patsy Velasquez-Daniel.
