First half of Bay Road renovation completed

The first section of newly-paved Orange Bay Road near The Old Gin House.

ST. EUSTATIUS--The first half of the renovation of Orange Bay Road in Lower Town St. Eustatius was completed on Sunday.

Commissioner Charles Woodley was on hand to oversee the completion of phase one. He also assisted in the shuttling of work employees, who had to be transported to and from the harbour area. The shuttle service transported persons from Old Gin House to the harbour, such as residents and visitors who needed to go to work at the harbour or visit restaurants in the area.

Employees of St. Eustatius Utility Company Stuco and the water plant, dive shop workers and visitors, boat owners, as well as restaurant employees and guests were shuttled to and from the area.

If all goes well, Orange Bay Road will re-open today, Tuesday. In the meantime, the public is asked not to walk or attempt to drive on the resurfaced stretch of road for the newly-paved area to cure and dry properly.

The works were carried out by Department of Spatial Planning and Management DROB and financed by the Road Fund.
