ST. EUSTATIUS--A delegation with the chairpersons of the Dutch Parliament’s First and Second Chambers visited St. Eustatius on Sunday.
The delegation arrived at F.D. Roosevelt Airport around 8:50am. They were welcomed by Acting Island Governor Julian Woodley and GIS protocol officer Mercedes Lopes-Spanner.
The parliamentary delegation consisted of First Chamber Chair Ankie Broekers-Knol, Second Chamber Chair Khadija Arib, First Chamber Registrar G.J.A Hamilton, Acting First Chamber Registrar F. J. Bergman, Acting Second Chamber Registrar T.N.J. de Lange, Protocol Advisor M. Pos and Senior Communication Advisor for Statia and Saba Alida Francis.
From 9:00am to 11:00am the delegation went on an island tour, during which they were able to view Fort Oranje, the Historic Core of Oranjestad, White Wall, Zeelandia and other areas of interest on Statia.
After the tour the delegation sat down with Acting Governor Woodley, after which the visitors took in the atmosphere at The Old Gin House grand inn and restaurant, where they had a luncheon meeting with the members of the Executive and Island Councils. Thereafter, the delegation departed for the Airport.
