PHILIPSBURG--Junior Chamber International (JCI) is working on activating a new local chapter. The organisation plans to host an open house at University of St. Martin at 7:00pm August 25. Former Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs will deliver the keynote address during the event.

The mission of the new youth club would be to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change vision to be the leading global network of young active citizens.

“The leadership training organisation will become very active in the community and will also embark on a series of trainings and fun activities for young persons between the ages of 18 and 40 years. The Junior Chamber organisation is to create positive change through the young citizens programme which offers opportunities to learn, inspire and build leaders. JCI St. Maarten was the first civic organisation on the island which was founded by the late JCI Senator Ben Vlaun.

“JCI St. Maarten was the first organisation that started the local news on television by project leader JCI Francis Carty. The JCI organisation is a worldwide leadership organisation that attends international meetings around the world. This enables positive change,” stated the club on Monday.
