Girl almost drowns off Mullet Bay Beach

MULLET BAY--A young girl believed to be between the ages of four to six years almost drown off Mullet Bay Beach on Sunday afternoon. The Daily Herald understands she was playing in the water when she lost her footing and was swept away by the heavy waves.

She was pulled out quickly by family members, and ambulance and police were contacted for assistance. One family member performed CPR on the girl who responded to the action minutes after.
Ambulance personnel arrived on scene and transported the child to St. Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said the incident happened after 4:00pm.
“We are happy that nothing happened to the girl and she is at the hospital safe. Luckily, the family member knew how to perform CPR,” stated Henson on Sunday afternoon
