Health care providers urged to register for STI training

PHILIPSBURG--Collective Prevention Services (CPS) urges health care providers to register for participation in a Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) workshop scheduled to take place March 24-25.

   This initiative is a collaborative effort of CPS, American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The workshop will take place at AUC from 8.30am to 4.00pm Saturday, March 24, and from 9.00am to 4.00pm Sunday, March 25.

The objective of the training is to increase medical service providers’ knowledge and skills for first-level diagnosis, treatment and referral of patients to provide an efficient STIs programme for the country.

The training is for clinicians and service providers whose normal duties include first-level diagnosis and treatment of patients and those who work as outreach providers, counsellors or educators at any first-contact health facility.

The workshop is also relevant to medical service providers (midwives, nurses, doctors, public health nurses and pharmacists) at health facilities.
