PHILIPSBURG/MARIGOT--Dutch-side Immigration personnel met with their French-side counterparts during a working visit on Friday, January 17. According to the St. Maarten Police Force KPSM, this visit was “in the context of maintaining good working relationships between Dutch- and French-side Immigration Departments.”
The Dutch-side visiting group consisted not only of Immigration personnel, but also of Royal Dutch Marechaussee KMar officers.
“The Immigration personnel visited different departments on the French side under the guidance of colleagues of the French-side Immigration SPAF,” said police in a press release on Monday. During the tour, the Dutch-side group visited the detention centre in Concordia, the Anguilla/St. Barths seaport in Marigot, Galisbay Port and L’Espérance Airport in Grand Case.
A meet-and-greet was held later in the day, during which French-side officers explained French legislation, work processes and systems to their Dutch-side colleagues.
