InselAir’s stay of payment extended

WILLEMSTAD--The judge in Curaçao has prolonged the moratorium deferred payment of InselAir by one month.

During this period nobody can claim the estate or property of the local carrier without the consent of the court. Trustee Rogier van den Heuvel had asked the court to extend the cooling off period for making arrangements with creditors.

This request was considered in the interest of the company and its creditors, so it was granted until May 12. Former Minister of Economic Development Eugene Rhuggenaath had agreed to a bridging loan from Government of NAf. 33 million for the ailing airline.

One of the demands was that the privately-owned company would get a partially new management. Canadian Gilles Filiatreault was appointed interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and André Delger Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The first part of their plan was for the airline to go back to basics. Currently, InselAir is only operating to and from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao and St. Maarten.
