Islands Calypso Show set for this Saturday

ANGUILLA--Nine islands will be competing in the 21st annual Leeward Islands Calypso Show on Saturday, August 12. The defending Monarch is Roxxy from Anguilla and she will be competing against calypsonians from Antigua, Montserrat, St. Maarten, St. Martin, St. Kitts, Nevis, British Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands.
The back-up All Star Band is composed of musicians from the region under the leadership of Cliffette Isaac from St. Kitts. The other members of the band are from St. Thomas, Antigua, St. Maarten and Anguilla, and they have been playing together since the inception of the show. There are three ladies who render the background vocals.
The Master of Ceremonies (MC) and guest artiste for the night is King Beau Beau (Leroy Brooks) from St. Maarten.
Each calypsonian will perform two calypsos. The sponsors are the Government of Anguilla and FLOW. The winner will receive US $4,000, second place $2,000, and third place $1,000. All the other contestants will receive a consolation prize of $375.
