ANGUILLA--The Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) arrested 26-year-old James Hodge of West End and charged him with attempted murder, discharging a firearm in a public place, and possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was captured in St. Maarten on Saturday, December 30, and appeared in the Magistrate’s Court in Anguilla on January 2. He has been remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison and is due back in Court on May 18.
Police also arrested a 49-year-old man for having unlawful intercourse with a minor. He was taken before the Magistrate on December 29 and granted bail in the sum of EC $80,000 with two sureties. The conditions of the bail are to report every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to The Valley police station and to observe a curfew daily from 7:00pm to 6:00am. He returns to Court on April 12.
Vern O’Flaherty of Stoney Ground was arrested and charged with possession of stolen goods and possession of a firearm. He was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison and is due back in Court on March 1.
The police also arrested and charged 36-year-old Reinaldo Antonio Mercedes of South Hill on two counts of human trafficking and two counts of threat to kill. He was granted bail by the Magistrate in the sum of EC $80,000 and had to surrender his travel documents, report to the police station twice a week and have no contact with the victims in the matter.
