SUCKER GARDEN--Police were notified around 10:30pm Sunday about an incident of ill-treatment in Sucker Garden. The patrol was dispatched immediately and saw one man unconscious on the ground with serious head injuries. The victim was treated on the scene by the ambulance personnel and immediately transported to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further treatment.
Another man B.R. (46) approached the officers and told them he was the one who had hit the victim on his head with a shovel. The suspect was taken into custody and is still incarcerated for further questioning. The 70-year-old victim N.M. is hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in critical but stable condition.
