NAf 72.5 million of lottery boss seized

~Gets two-year suspended prison sentence~

WILLEMSTAD--The Court of First Instance in Curaçao ruled on the so-called "Bientu case" by acquitting Robbie’s Lottery owner Robbie dos Santos of falsifying lottery tickets, but finding him guilty of illegal arms possession, money laundering, filing false tax returns, forgery and participation in a criminal organisation.

For this he was given a two-year suspended prison sentence. Furthermore, an amount of 72.5 million guilders related to him will be confiscated.

Three of Dos Santos’ companies also faced charges and were all found guilty of filing false tax returns, forgery and participation in a criminal organisation. They were ordered to pay fines of 25,000 guilders (Jamarooma) or 50,000 guilders (Money Game and Administratie Kantoor N.V.)

During the proceedings it was stated that the suspect would be able to keep some 17 million guilders considered legitimate earnings to continue operating his lottery business, but strictly by the book.

Sulvaran immediately announced they would appeal the decision.
