ST. EUSTATIUS--New Challenges Foundation (NCF) held a graduation ceremony Monday for Taneesha “Nana” Lindo, its first student to obtain the General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

Present at the ceremony at NCF’s facility in Rosemary Lane were Acting Government Commissioner Mervyn Stegers, teachers, NCF board members and Lindo’s proud parents.

Stegers and NCF Director Francine Foe both congratulated Lindo on her achievement and wished her continued success with her future studies. She was also presented with token of appreciation for her achievement.

In an emotional address, Lindo thanked her parents Petra Lens and Police Officer Dwayne Lindo. She also thanked her teachers one by one by one, but especially Julian Hinckson, who had all the patience with her and who never gave up in seeing her achieve her goals.

One of Lindo’s friends stated this was the second “diploma” she has received in the last two years, the first one being her driver’s license.
