No decision yet on budget instruction

Plenipotentiary ministers of the three Dutch Caribbean countries with Aruba Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Oduber in The Hague.

WILLEMSTAD--The Kingdom Council of Ministers in The Hague during its regular Friday meeting postponed for one week a decision on a possible budgetary instruction to Curaçao as advised by the Committee for Financial Supervision CFT.

The Dutch Caribbean country and the Netherlands wanted more time to make agreements on tackling the financial and economic problems facing the island. The matter will be dealt with in next week Friday’s extra meeting; the last one before the summer recess.

According to Knops, “The CFT advice is of great importance, but I have always said it’s not just about an instruction but about prospects. We hope to jointly come to arrangements which offer such and if we did not have that expectation, we would have taken a decision today already.”
