PHILIPSBURG--The Ocean Lounge Restaurant at Holland House Beach Hotel has been awarded Wine Spectator Restaurant’s “Wine List Award of Excellence 2015.”
The award recognises restaurants whose wine lists offer balanced selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine aficionados, Holland House said in a press release on Monday.
During the past 12 months Holland House’s Food and Beverage Manager Paul Melskens has been working in close collaboration with wine suppliers to create a wine list that fits the criteria and offers a wide range to match individual taste suitable to all budgets, it was stated in a press release.
“The quality of the wines, together with the compatibility with the dinner menu is of high importance for the restaurant. It is a great compliment to receive the award and the recognition that the restaurant is doing an excellent job in serving their guests the best quality wines.”
To be considered for the award, Wine Spectator has strict requirements a wine list needs to meet. The list needs to consist of a minimum of around 90 different wines; the wines need to be stored in an appropriate manner and climate and need to be of a certain quality and have to pair well with the food on the menu, amongst other things. The Ocean Lounge Restaurant said it will be happy to show customers that its award was “well-deserved” by assisting diners to select “the best wine” to complement their dinner.
To celebrate the achievement the restaurant is offering a special three course menu including two wines for US $49 during the month of September.
