PHILIPSBURG--Three draft laws will be before Parliament today, Monday, for approval in a plenary session starting at 11:00am in Parliament House. General Affairs Minister/Prime Minister William Marlin will table the legislation that was already handled in a central committee session last month.
The first law for approval is the amendment to the National Ordinance on identity cards to allow the introduction of a diplomatic identification card for career and honorary consuls living or serving in St. Maarten. Approval has been pending since mid-last year.
The second is the law amending the National Ordinance on sanctions to implement recommendation VIof the Financial Action Task Force without delay to implement the restrictive measures and some technical legal adjustments.
The final law is the amendment to the National Ordinance on material civil service law to protect the status of public servants.
The second meeting of the day will be a central committee meeting with the shareholder’s representative of Princess Juliana International Airport starting at 3:30pm in Parliament House. The meeting, requested by the United People’s (UP) party Members of Parliament, will focus on the current state of affairs of the airport.
