Pisas to head MFK faction

WILLEMSTAD--While former Curaçao Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte serves his corruption sentence the parliamentary faction of “Movementu Futuro Kòrsou” (MFK) is to be led by former – interim – Prime Minister Gilmar “Pik” Pisas, it was announced during a press conference on Monday.

Deputy leader of the current opposition party’s five-member faction will be Charles.Cooper (also a former prime minister but for MAN). Since Schotte was given a five-year ban from standing candidate for public office too, Pisas will most likely head the ballot in the next election scheduled for 2021.

Schotte automatically lost his seat in the legislature, which would normally go to the person next in line on last year’s election ballot Juniël Carolina, who received 165 votes. However, Schotte has asked him to make room for the following candidate on the list Charetti Eduarda-Francisca, who got 487 votes.

Carolina confirmed the request but has not yet reacted. He switched to the MFK party after some issues with his former party FOL, which he had represented in the Island Council before the constitutional changes within the Dutch kingdom per October 10, 2010.

Schotte had also been with first FOL and then MAN before he founded MFK.
