EUSTATIUS--Members of the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force KPCN and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee KMar made an arrest on Tuesday, June 30, in connection with the shooting that took place on Kapelweg in St. Eustatius on June 13.
The prosecutor gave the order to arrest a man A.M. for alleged involvement in the shooting incident. The police reported at the time that five shots had been fired during the incident and that no one had been hurt.
Chief Inspector of Basic Police Care Robelto Hodge stated that the investigation is still ongoing. No weapon was found during the police search of the suspect’s home. Officers had to force their way into the home because the suspect did not respond to calls for him to open the door. Therefore, the police proceeded to force the door open.
The suspect is currently in preventive custody for two days of investigations. The Judge of Instruction will review the case. If needed, the preliminary detention can be extended for eight more days.
